Broadening Accessibility with RediClinic
In August, RediClinic, a leading operator of retail clinics, and Hackensack Meridian Health announced the formation of a joint venture to open convenient care clinics inside select Rite Aid pharmacies in Middlesex, Monmouth, and Ocean counties. The joint venture structure facilitates and accelerates a high level of clinical integration with other Hackensack Meridian Health providers and facilities, which maximizes the quality, accessibility and cost-effectiveness of care for New Jersey residents.
Hackensack Meridian Health RediClinics are staffed with nurse practitioners who are Hackensack Meridian Health team members, and are licensed to diagnose, treat, and, when appropriate, prescribe medications for common medical conditions. They can also administer a broad range of preventive services, including health screenings, medical tests, immunizations and basic physical exams, including back-to-school and sports physicals. RediClinic’s acclaimed Weigh Forward© weight/lifestyle management program is also available. The nurse practitioners will be overseen by local medical directors who are affiliated with Hackensack Meridian Health. The clinics are open seven days a week, including extended weekday hours. No appointments are necessary, but online appointments are available.
RediClinics are available in Belford, Highland Park, Little Egg Harbor, Marlboro, Neptune, Old Bridge, Red Bank, Toms River and Whitesville. A tenth location will be opening in Spring Lake this year.
Convenient Health Care Just a Phone Call Away
Hackensack Meridian Health now offers virtual physician visits to residents of Monmouth, Ocean and Middlesex counties through Teladoc, Inc. the nation’s first and largest telehealth provider. The telehealth system offers virtual physician visits to the local community and provides easy access to non-urgent care.

Delivering World-Class Outpatient Dialysis
In April 2016, legacy Meridian Health entered into a joint venture partnership with Fresenius Medical Care (now Fresenius Kidney Care). The partnership includes nine kidney care/dialysis locations throughout Monmouth and Ocean counties in Brick, Lakewood, Manahawkin, Matawan, Neptune, Red Bank, Toms River (two locations) and Whiting. Urgent Care Centers Expand in Northern New Jersey
In March of 2014, Hackensack University Health Network established a new partnership with New York-based CityMD to open urgent care centers in northern New Jersey. CityMD has more than 65 urgent care centers nationwide. This partnership marked Hackensack University Health Network’s first expansion into urgent care centers. To date, five locations are open in Paramus, Clifton, Hoboken, Union and East Hanover. Seven more are planned to open in 2017 in the following areas: Teterboro, Bayonne, North Paramus, Ramsey, Wayne, Journal Square in Jersey City and Newark. CityMD received the NCQA Patient-Centered Connected Care Recognition. It is one of only three urgent care organizations in the entire country to receive this prestigious award.
On the Road to a Smoother Health Care Experience
Patients often cite transportation as an obstacle to health care. So in April 2016, Hackensack University Medical Center and Uber New Jersey announced a partnership to provide access to convenient, reliable transportation for team members, patients, and visitors. This groundbreaking initiative is the first of its kind in the world. It integrates Uber’s ridesharing services throughout the hospital experience. As part of this experience, Uber activated a feature in its app that allows users to indicate at which specific pick-up zone at the medical center they are located in when requesting a ride. Additionally, Uber ride reminders will be built into the Hackensack University Medical Center app and the hospital’s website will host a ride request landing page. The new pick-up/drop-off areas at the hospital are co-branded, and Hackensack University Medical Center team members are designated at these locations to help riders get in and out of their Ubers.
